The February workshop is SOLD OUT, but you're encouraged to register for the March or July workshop series here.
Grantmakers in the Arts, in partnership with Philanthropy California, is offering its next Racial Equity in Arts Funding Workshop online in 4 three-hour modules on February 2, 9, 16 & 23 from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm PST. The hope is to reach a critical mass of California funders so learning can be continued in local cohorts following the workshop.
GIA’s Racial Equity in Arts Funding Workshops have been designed to help participants recognize the difference between inclusion and self-determination, interpersonal bigotry and structural racism, and being passive “not racist” and being actively anti-racist.
Developed in partnership with Race Forward and True North EDI, the Racial Equity in Arts Funding Workshops include information on the history of racialization in the United States, the history of cultural funding, and real-world stories of success and examples of racial equity funding, strategies, and resources.
The workshops are facilitated by Jonny Altrogge from True North EDI and by GIA team members Eddie Torres, president; Nadia Elokdah, vice president; and Sherylynn Sealy, program manager and include first-person lessons from guest speakers from the grantmaking field.
