SCG Volunteer Day

Following the highly popular volunteer projects offered in December, Southern California Grantmakers is pleased to invite you to our second membership-wide volunteer effort.

SCG Volunteer Day is an opportunity to connect with other funders and local nonprofits outside of the typical business environment, while supporting worthy causes in the Southern California community.

This June, SCG members will have the opportunity to directly improve the condition of Santa Monica Bay while learning about and participating in the conservation of our coastal resources. A representative from Heal the Bay will teach participants about how trash on the streets winds up in the ocean and the consequences of pollution. We will also collect data during the cleanup that will be used to identify ways to stop beach pollution.

Founded in 1985, Heal the Bay is a nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to making Southern California's coastal waters and watersheds, including Santa Monica Bay, safe, healthy and clean. Heal the Bay uses research, education, community action and advocacy to promote workable solutions to problems threatening Santa Monica Bay and all of Southern California's coastal waters.
