Event Description
SoCal Grantmakers and the SCG Veteran Funders Group are excited to host a special Funders First Look for the recently released Southern California Veterans Study. The study surveyed nearly 3,200 veterans across Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties to better understand their transition experience and needs, and follows up on the previous State of the American Veteran studies conducted in 2014.
Issues impacting veterans and military families in the Southern California region intersect and overlap with other priority areas for SCG funders such as health and wellness, housing and homelessness, workforce development, criminal justice reform, arts and creative expression, aging and older adults, and many more.
Associate Professor and lead researcher, Sara Kintzle, Ph.D., MSW, and Deputy Director for Military and Veterans Programs (MVP) at the RAND-USC Epstein Family Foundation Center for Veterans Policy Research will present the study data, findings, and conclusions. Two of the study's funding partners, Jennifer Vanore, Ph.D., of the UniHealth Foundation and Erin Jackson-Ward, Ph.D., of Cedars-Sinai, will then discuss the takeaways and implications for funders who may consider utilizing and incorporating the study's findings in their grantmaking.
Space is limited so be sure to register as soon as possible.
