In response to this challenging moment, United Way of Greater Los Angeles will be hosting a virtual 1 hour funder briefing on the impact of the local fires on unhoused Angelenos and homeless service providers, and open a space to discuss the potential long-term impacts of the fire on homelessness in LA County.
This space will allow us to share amongst each other key updates and information and to come together to understand -- How have unhoused folks been impacted? How have providers been impacted? What is the status of the current sector response for our unhoused residents? What do folks need now / next? What are the potential long-term impacts on housing insecurity and homelessness in LA County, including the end of January Homeless Count?
Both public and private funders engaged in giving in LA County are welcome to join.
Please note we are monitoring the situation and will update or cancel the meeting if things change. We also recognize that not everyone may be able to join due to personal impacts or active management of the response, we understand and encourage everyone to take care of themselves in this challenging time.
United Way of Greater Los Angeles has recently activated a Wildfire Response Fund to support relief and recovery efforts in LA County. The Fund will focus on funding community-based organizations and mutual aid groups within LA County responding to the emergency and its recovery, with prioritized support for organizations supporting low-income individuals whose livelihood has been disrupted, people experiencing homelessness and those who provide services to support them, and community organizations and small businesses disrupted by the fires and key to economic recovery.
