About Southern California Grantmakers and Philanthropy California
SoCal Grantmakers (SCG) is a membership association whose mission is to mobilize philanthropy to learn and take bold actions by fostering an inclusive community of members and partners. The SCG community includes 300+ members who represent the spectrum of philanthropy, including foundations, family philanthropy, corporate giving, consultants to philanthropy, and government grantmakers.
SCG also co-leads Philanthropy California, an initiative of Northern California Grantmakers, SoCal Grantmakers, and Catalyst of San Diego and Imperial Counties. Our alliance’s combined membership represents more than 700 philanthropic organizations investing billions every year to support communities across the state, the country, and worldwide.
SCG is committed to fostering a community where members can learn, collaborate, and encourage one another in pursuit of growth and transformational change. By offering issued-based programs, professional development opportunities, and peer-to-peer connections, we educate and inspire members to shift their individual and organizational actions towards anti-racism and justice. SCG also works across sectors to tackle the root causes of inequities by fighting against white supremacy by pursuing a policy agenda that advances racial equity and supports narrative change.
SCG strives to be an anti-racist organization and actively sets DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) goals for their work and team members. We recognize and support the leadership, well-being, and identities of our staff as our most valuable resources.
