SoCal Grantmakers (SCG) is a membership association whose mission is to mobilize philanthropy to learn and take bold actions by fostering an inclusive community of members and partners. The SCG community includes 300+ members who represent the spectrum of philanthropy, including foundations, family philanthropy, corporate giving, consultants to philanthropy, and government grantmakers. SCG also co-leads Philanthropy California, an initiative of Northern California Grantmakers, SoCal Grantmakers, and Catalyst of San Diego and Imperial Counties. Our alliance’s combined membership represents more than 700 philanthropic organizations investing billions every year to support communities across the state, the country, and worldwide. About the Membership and Sustainability Team
The Membership and Sustainability Team is responsible for resource development including grants, sponsorships, membership dues, and other forms of fund development including earned income. The team manages member recruitment, retention, and engagement. The layered team includes the Vice President, Membership & Sustainability;
Director, Grants & Membership; Manager, Sustainability & Membership Growth; Director, Member Engagement; Manager, Membership; and Manager, Communities & Engagement.
About the Opportunity
The Coordinator, Grants and Sustainability (Coordinator) plays a key role in supporting the cultivation, securing, and stewardship of SCG’s revenue streams. The Coordinator is responsible for key areas of work including data management, logistics, projects, and administrative duties in support of the Membership & Sustainability team (MST) achieving their annual fundraising goals. This position works most closely with and reports to the Director, Grants & Sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Grants (45%): Enter and maintain updated grants and sponsorships data in Salesforce including creating campaigns and opportunities, task, and deliverable tracking deadlines for required submissions, and reminders for renewal conversations. Review, process, and submit signed grant and sponsorship agreements, forms, contracts, and payments. Generate tax acknowledgement letters and invoices. Follow-up on outstanding payments and collaborate with Finance and Operations team to reconcile. Ensure digital record keeping of all grant-related documentation for compliance. Support Membership and Sustainability team to achieve annual grant and overall fundraising goals. As needed, draft and provide additional support for standard grant report and application submissions.
- Fiscal Sponsorships and Collaborative Funds (40%): Enter and maintain updated fiscal sponsorships and collaborative funds data in Salesforce including creating campaigns and opportunities, deliverable tracking deadlines for required submissions. Review, process, submit fiscal sponsorships and collaborative grant funds agreements, forms, contracts, and payments related to grant income. Ensure digital record keeping of all fiscal sponsorships and collaborative funds related documentation for compliance. As needed, draft and provide additional support for standard fiscal sponsor grant report and application submissions.
- Administration (5%): Provide limited administrative support for the Membership & Sustainability team such as calendaring for internal and external meetings, Salesforce knowledge capture for outreach campaigns, and work with other members of the Membership & Sustainability team to accomplish special projects.
- Member engagement, initiative, and event support (5%): As needed, assist with on-site and virtual registration/logistics at SCG events, and programs, including all major conferences to build relationships with members and to provide cross-team support. As necessary, work with other SCG, Northern California Grantmakers and Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties staff in collaboration on Philanthropy California Initiatives.
- Infrastructure & Professional development (5%): Participate in team and staff meetings and trainings; participate in key strategic initiatives as needed. Participate in trainings, workshops, and professional development opportunities to build leadership skills. Participate in racial equity and racial justice trainings in support of SCGs mission/vision/values.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in related area or commensurate experience
- Two to four years’ experience in non-profit fundraising and development work
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines
- Excellent writing skills
- Superb attention to detail
- Two to three years of experience in Salesforce or database software and Microsoft Office
- Strong research skills
- Absolute commitment to confidentiality of member info
- Absolute commitment to SCG’s mission/vision/values and work in racial equity and racial justice
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with a range of $60,000 - $70,000
- Hybrid/remote work opportunity, with preference for candidates located within SCG’s service area
- Up to 100% employer-funded comprehensive medical coverage
- 14 paid holidays, including two “floating” holidays.
- In addition, the SCG office is closed from December 24 through New Year’s Day.
