Position: Coordinator, Membership
Team: Membership & Sustainability
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director, Member Engagement
The Coordinator, Membership at SoCal Grantmakers is instrumental in cultivating relationships with our members, deepening their engagement, managing membership renewal campaigns, and optimizing our processes for continued success. The Coordinator, Membership is responsible for leading and executing the annual membership renewal campaign, including directly establishing and maintaining ongoing relationships to renew members, and supporting and activating other staff to renew key strategic members. The Coordinator, Membership is also responsible for the ongoing forecasting and tracking of renewal rates, and for continually improving renewal processes and systems.
Responsibilities
Membership renewals (70%):
- Build, launch, and manage SCG’s annual membership renewal campaigns to achieve budgeted revenue and retention goals determined in consultation with CEO/COO/VP/DME.
- Draft and send personalized renewal requests, follow up communications for pledged payments, and manage CEO/VP/DME to send as needed.
- Track, follow up, and update database.
- Create and send invoices and acknowledgment letters as needed.
Member Engagement (10%)
- Develop relationships with members in a remote environment.
- Respond to member requests for information, contact updates, log-in help, connections etc.
- [Support SCG fundraisers to] Connect members with relevant programs, peer communities, services, SCG staff and board, and fellow members.
- Share observations of member characteristics, behaviors, interests, perspectives, and trends.
- Support and/or lead periodic dues increases, member directory profile and roster update campaigns, and other membership-related special projects
Renewal processes and systems (5%):
- Continually refine the renewal experience for members to achieve accuracy and efficiency with warmth. Streamline internal renewal processes and systems through increased use of technology, with thought-partner and implementation help from the Knowledge & Communications and Finance teams.
Forecasting and tracking renewal rates (5%):
- Forecast, track, and report on renewal rates compared to budgeted revenue and retention goals. Identify and analyze trends in renewing members.
Infrastructure (10%):
- Participate in team and staff meetings and trainings; participate in key strategic initiatives as needed.
- Seek out professional learning opportunities to strengthen skills and knowledge.
- Document key systems and procedures for relevant job functions.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum three years of experience in a similar capacity; experience in the nonprofit/philanthropic sector; excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills; excellent writing and research skills; strong attention to detail; ability to multi-task and work under pressure on multiple projects; strong technology skills including advanced Microsoft Office and database experience (Salesforce a plus).
Salary & Benefits
Salary range is $68,000 to $85,400 annually.
