Job Summary
We are looking for a passionate, talented, and experienced professional who will lead and manage the LA Partnership’s development program. The person will lead fundraising strategy and execution, working with the Co-Executive Directors. The Development and Fund Manager will work to take the LA Partnership to the next level, building upon the great momentum established during our first 20 years.
Responsibilities
Lead LA Partnership Development Strategy:
- Lead the design and implementation of strategies to identify funding sources needed to support the growth and development activities of the LA Partnership, both for general operations and for project-specific activities
- Explore new opportunities for partnership and revenue streams while helping to maintain and grow partnerships with current foundation partners.
- Help the LA Partnership establish and build a successful effort to engage individual donors.
Foundation and Individual Donor Cultivation:
- Conduct prospect research and ensure leadership and program staff are prepared with the right tips and insight to successfully speak to the funder’s interest as it relates to the LA Partnership’s mission and programs.
- Foster a culture of philanthropy and ensure that fund development is executed in keeping with the organization's values, vision, and mission.
- Facilitate the daily operating needs of Development and Grants Management.
- Event Curation: Identify new fundraising opportunities, including fundraising events, and work with the team to coordinate events.
- Work closely with team members and donor partners to identify and develop creative and high-touch outreach and engagement strategies to potential and existing foundation and individual donor partners.
- Leverage foundation partners to grow and expand the LA Partnership donor base.
- Manage, develop, and refine communications to donors and potential donors.
- Amplify and elevate the LA Partnership’s brand and strategy, promoting a unique framework with donor partners and potential donor partners.
- Continue to build and maintain relationships with the philanthropic community and affinity groups, pitching LA Partnership expertise for webinars, panels, speaking, and writing opportunities within the philanthropic network.
- Continually update the LA Partnership’s pitch to donors and customize based on donor interests.
Grant management (for fundraising purposes):
- Responsible for LOIs and proposals in coordination with the Co-Executive Directors, program team, and Operations Director.
- Responsible for drafting interim and final grant reports to LA Partnership funders.
- Responsible for building and maintaining a database and calendar of all grant proposals and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong writing and research skills
- Quick learner with a passion for early childhood and supporting low-income children and families with pathways out of poverty.
- Someone who is caring, friendly, passionate, and a self-starter
- Proven track record in fundraising
- 10+ years of experience in development and fundraising
- Superb organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask and track projects on deadline
- Demonstrated ability in computer skills for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, fundraising software and presentations, and ability to learn new software packages.
- Preferred experience with Salesforce and/or Salsa CRM (MARY – do we think we should include this??)
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Adept team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in diverse environments
- A high level of personal energy, dependability, and commitment
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Some travel required
- Able to work remotely from a home office
Salary & Benefits
Salary range: $5,000 - $7,500 per month
This is a part-time, contract position. Compensation is commensurate with education and work experience. The LA Partnership is a project of the California Community Foundation and does not provide benefits of any kind.
