The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation keeps music alive in our schools by providing vital support services to school districts, and new musical instruments to underfunded music programs nationwide, giving under-represented youth access to the many benefits of music education, leading them to success in school, and inspiring creativity and expression through playing music.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join our expanding and dedicated team in fulfilling an important mission to bring music and arts education to more students across the country. The Operations Manager works with all departments to ensure the integrity of organizational systems and workflow between departments to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in office administration and finance, as well as excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
Responsibilities
Operations
- Review/implement office policies that are in line with best practices.
- Ensure legal compliance of organization’s processes.
- Maintain office records: design effective filing systems; review/implement procedures for maintaining records in a secure fashion; archive/transfer/dispose of records per document retention guidelines.
- Insurance policy renewals – office and employee.
- Process payroll and 403(b) deferrals and matching contributions.
- Ensure that there are adequate office supplies.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested.
- Management of Human Resources strategies.
- Maintain and file state registration renewals.
Finance
- Administration of all financial plans and general financial oversight and monitoring.
- Prepare annual budget in coordination with Executive Staff.
- Ensure that all invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner.
- Provide information to offsite accountants to ensure delivery of accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
- Assemble information for external auditors for the year-end audit and IRS 990.
- Maintain funding spreadsheets.
- Generate budget comparisons, project budgets, and expense reports.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of proven success in an operations manager or office administration role.
- Financial and accounting reporting experience.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors.
- Excellent planning, organization, and management skills.
- Highly organized with attention to detail, prioritization skills, and excellent written and verbal skills.
- Strong skills in budget development and oversight.
- Proficiency in Mac Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbooks Online, Google Workspace, and Adobe Acrobat.
Salary & Benefits
- Hours: Full time, non-exempt, 40 hours/week.
- Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000.
- Excellent benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays. Medical, dental, and vision insurance is offered with 80% of the insurance premium covered by employer.
- New employees are eligible to participate in our 403(b) plan immediately with employer matching effective 60 days after hire.
