Jonathan Schreiber, Cedars-Sinai’s Vice President of Community Engagement, leads the health system’s directed community benefit efforts improving access to care and prevention of chronic disease in targeted underserved areas in the local community. These efforts encompass the medical center’s major school-based programs in obesity prevention and mental health services, its pediatric mobile medical units, as well as all efforts focused on community health improvement programs for adults. Jonathan also founded and directs the Cedars-Sinai Community Benefit Giving Office, which grants upwards of $25 million annually. Bringing both the grantmaking and community health portfolios together, Jonathan is also responsible for spearheading the Cedars-Sinai Community Clinic Initiative, leveraging multiple hospital-based resources ranging from strategic grantmaking to clinical deployment to help build capacities to strengthen the effectiveness and leadership of local community health centers.
Jonathan is charged with directing Cedars-Sinai’s spiritual care team and led the strategic planning process that resulted in its growth and further integration into the Cedars-Sinai care delivery system. Previously, Jonathan supervised the hospital’s volunteer fundraising groups, which were responsible for raising as much as $50 million annually. He also led cause-related marketing for Cedars-Sinai, driving patient recruitment, promoting community health education and fundraising.
Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, Jonathan Schreiber founded Out of the Box Advertising and served as Vice President of Strategy and Account Services at Passion Marketing for Issues and Causes – both of which are marketing and advertising firms dedicated to working within the nonprofit sector. To date, Jonathan has worked with more than 350 nonprofits including the Ford Foundation, Sesame Workshop, UCLA, USC, the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Neighborhood Legal Services, LISC, Low Income Investment Fund, Jewish Federations in New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Toronto, as well as more than 50 Jewish day schools across North America.
Jonathan holds an MAEd, an MBA in Nonprofit Management, and an MSBA in Marketing Strategy. He is the recipient of a Wexner Graduate Fellowship and is a frequent lecturer for community-based organizations, leadership development programs, and graduate-level classes on change management and nonprofit marketing.
