The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce (L.A. Chamber) was founded in 1888 to be the voice of business, and champion economic prosperity and quality of life throughout the L.A. region. The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s mission for cradle-to-career education is to build partnerships that make it possible for youth in Los Angeles to have equal access to education and high level job training resulting in a thriving local economy.
The Foundation supports L.A. Chamber activities and efforts of its affiliates to coordinate and broker systemic education reform. The Foundation is particularly focused on the issues facing large urban school districts such as the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). With nearly 650,000 students in LAUSD and 250,000 students in the Los Angeles Community College District served at nine colleges spread throughout 36 cities in the greater Los Angeles area, the L.A. Chamber sees the economic future of our region tied to our youth’s educational success and economic opportunities. The LA Chamber’s education/workforce programs serve over 50,000 students and their families every year.
