In February, we held a convening for funders to learn more about the history and funding needs of California Native communities. We’re excited to continue this work and host the Advancing Native American Truth and Healing virtual convening on June 8th from 11am - 12:30pm PT in partnership with the Office of the Tribal Affairs.
The convening is an opportunity to hear a briefing on California Native American history with a focus on land and infrastructure and the Office of Tribal Affairs’ multifaceted work, including information about the truth and healing documentary project. It will also include a discussion with philanthropic partners on their work funding Native communities, including overcoming institutional barriers, educating foundation teams, building relationships with Native tribes, and investing while continuing to learn.
You’ll have the opportunity to hear from the Office of Tribal Affairs and philanthropic partners about efforts to advance truth and healing in California, and how funders can support them.
If you have any questions please reach out to Elena Chávez Quezada, Senior Advisor on Social Innovation to Governor Newsom, at elena.chavezquezada@gov.ca.gov.
We look forward to seeing you there!
