SCG is excited to host our 2022 Policy Conference, Power Building for Systems Change, virtually across two mornings in April! This year, we will explore power building as a framework to uplift community power and advance long-term systems change.
As philanthropy increasingly engages in public policy, our sector has an opportunity to situate its policy and advocacy work within a broader social impact ecosystem. Changing one policy or funding one organization are essential steps, but isolated actions will do little to bring forth long-term systems change. Achieving long-term reform will require funders to broaden their scope and holistically invest in a community-led movement.
We’ve repeatedly seen that people with lived experience are the best positioned to design and lead the solutions needed to achieve meaningful systems change. To this day, Black, Indigenous, and other movement leaders of color continue to demonstrate their power to pave the way toward an inclusive and equitable democracy.
Power Building for Systems Change seeks to strengthen the civic leadership of people most impacted by structural inequality to advance a community-centered policy agenda. We will explore a range of power-building strategies, including investing in organizing infrastructure, wielding narrative power to advance guaranteed income pilots, forging coalitions around the care economy, leveraging data for youth justice, and investing in Black leadership.
We hope you will join us at our annual policy convening, where we will hear from community partners, civic leaders, and long-time funders of power building work.
