On January 17, 2025, Philanthropy California — the statewide alliance with Northern California Grantmakers, SoCal Grantmakers, and Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties — hosted a funder briefing on the January 2025 firestorm and wildfires devastating Southern California.
We welcomed Abby Browning (Chief, Office of Private Sector/NGO Coordination, Office of Emergency Services), Miguel Santana (President & CEO, California Community Foundation), Emily Bradley (Director, Strategic Investments, United Way of Greater Los Angeles), Lily Bui (Manager, Climate and Disaster Preparedness and Resilience, SCG), Julián Castro (CEO, Latino Community Foundation), and Jennifer DeVoll (CEO, Pasadena Community Foundation) who provided an update on the current philanthropic response in the region.
