A Message On The 2024 Elections
Our vision at SCG is to create a more equitable world, an aspiration we share with many of you. Over the past two weeks, we've been so inspired by our members' post-election statements, reaffirming their commitments to equity, democracy, our communities, and the critical work ahead. At this time, SCG recognizes the importance of also standing firm in our values, our commitment to racial equity, and our dedication to building an inclusive democracy.
Moving forward, we must come together to support the rights, security, and prosperity of the communities we serve in Southern California and across the state. SCG's priority in the coming months will be to serve as a convener and partner for our members as our sector mobilizes in response to a shifting political landscape. As you begin your planning, please contact us if you want to connect with your colleagues, partner on a program, or need support with ur gent or rapid response requests.
SCG's Public Policy & Government Relations team is currently scaling up its work to support funders who want to get more involved in advocacy efforts, connect with legislators, and stay informed of the new administration's policy agenda. Our team strongly encourages funders to begin preparing for the long-term policy work and investments needed to support our sector and our communities. If you want to learn more about policy and advocacy, please reach out to us at govrelations@socalgrantmakers.org.
We also invite you to participate in our upcoming policy and election-related programs. Next month, SCG will host an in-person Post-Election Funders Convening to discuss the results of the elections and their implications for our sector. Philanthropy California will host a virtual briefing next March on the incoming administration's first 100 Days in office to help funders coordinate efforts across the state. We are also eager to announce the return of Sacramento Advocacy Day next April to help California funders connect with state legislators – returning and new – to discuss our collaborative work. We encourage you to visit SCG's Democracy Hub to view all our election-related programming.
In moments like these, our collective strength and support for one another matter now more than ever. Our power derives from our trust in one another and our mutual desire to build a better world. We've accomplished so much, and we will continue to do so. In this time of change, please don't hesitate to contact any SCG staff member if you need support or want to get involved.
In Partnership,
