Collaboratives
SCG strives to build and sustain strong philanthropic communities where members can connect, innovate, and collaborate across sectors. We invite you to explore our current Collaborative Efforts & Initiatives below to learn how to work alongside regional and state funders on various issue areas. Please contact us if you have any questions about getting involved with a Collaborative or if you’d like to explore co-creating a new initiative.
Philanthropy California
Philanthropy California is an initiative of California’s three major philanthropy-supporting organizations: Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties, Northern California Grantmakers, and SoCal Grantmakers. Philanthropy California brings these statewide philanthropic networks together to increase our impact in building and sustaining thriving, equitable communities. Our combined membership represents more than 600 foundations, corporate funders, philanthropic individuals and families, giving circles, and government agencies that invest billions yearly to support communities across the state, the country, and worldwide. SCG members have access to all Philanthropy California events, resources, and other offerings.

Cal OES Climate Capacity Grant
In 2023, Philanthropy California was awarded a two-million-dollar grant from The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to expand its role in advancing resilience as a central component of equitable climate and disaster philanthropy. With this grant, Philanthropy California will launch a series of trainings for nonprofits and funders to address capacity gaps for nonprofits, expand philanthropic co-investment in California grantees, and continue its role as a trusted platform for publicizing vetted funds for place-based relief, recovery, and resilience. Starting in 2024, nonprofits, community-based organizations, Tribes, and tribal organizations working in climate and disaster resilience across California are invited to register for these grant and capacity-building opportunities to expand their organization’s response to and preparation for climate change.

Los Angeles Veterans Collaborative
The Los Angeles Veterans Collaborative is a structured network of public, private, and government agencies working together to reduce suffering and improve the lives of veterans, service members, and military families in Los Angeles County. This work is achieved through strategically improving and coordinating their access to services, reducing barriers to care, and influencing policy.
National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP)
SCG has partnered with the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP) to offer our members free access to NCFP's family-focused webinars and robust database of resources for philanthropic families. SCG staff can also connect members with programmatic experts at NCFP to help identify resources and solutions to common problems in family giving.
Accessing NCFP Benefits
