Working toward more equitable systems is a long-term commitment that spans and transcends generations. True change requires perseverance beyond administrations, four-year election cycles, and individual campaigns. Long-term sustainable change requires intentionality, reflection, upkeep, protection, and a firm commitment to improving the conditions for our communities.
SCG's 2024 Policy Conference, Long-Term Visions, Lasting Change, will explore how California's philanthropic and civic sectors can create policies and systems that outlast administrative changes and economic shifts. By refining a long-term vision, our sector can achieve immediate victories during high-profile touchpoints — local, state, and federal election cycles, Census years, and redistricting processes — while building the infrastructure needed to achieve lasting systems change.
With the support of civic leaders and philanthropic institutions, we can build on the work of community-based organizations and grassroots organizers to develop and implement policies that sustain and strengthen communities. By working with the nonprofit sector, advocates, and activists, we can move from reactive responses toward future-focused solutions that aim to combat systemic injustices and long-standing access issues.
We invite you to attend SCG’s 2024 Public Policy Conference to learn strategies like how to incorporate a policy lens into your existing work, supporting and advocating for a strong nonprofit sector, and preparing for changes that come with ever-evolving technology. Hear from subject matter experts and peer colleagues about tools and tactics including advocacy for co-governance and fair implementation, power-wielding, and collective visioning. Together, we will explore how our sector can hone in on a clearer vision that achieves lasting change for our generation and those to come.
